Abstract

All osteopathic graduate medical education programs approved by the American Osteopathic Association are required to be part of an Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution (OPTI). The author reviews recent activities related to OPTI operations, including OPTI accreditation and academic sponsorship changes, revisions to the OPTI Accreditation Handbook, the 2011 OPTI Workshop, and the 2011 OPTI Annual Report. The author also reviews the OPTI accreditation process, cites common commendations and deficiencies for reviews completed from 2008 to 2011, and compares OPTI responses from the 2009 and 2011 OPTI annual reports.
